A very warm welcome back to all our families for the spring term. The children have already made a fantastic start to the new year, with their enthusiasm for being back in school.
We had a great assembly on Friday, which I hope you have heard all about: tracking the latest achievement of the New Horizons space probe as it passed Ultima Thule over the Christmas season. For those of you who don't know, Dormansland Primary School is on the space probe: the only British school to be able to make this claim. So, the incredible scientific achievements being made out in deep space are of particular interest to us as a school community. In the past 13 years (we worked out that this was before any of the children currently in school was even born!), New Horizons has travelled a staggering 6 billion miles away from Earth and is still going AND is still transmitting images and data back to NASA. And our school is part of this project.
It just goes to show that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
