This Friday the school will be hosting its own interpretation of the much loved and very British tradition of a street party, to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. This is separate to and not connected with the village street party taking part in West Street on Sunday 12th June, which we hope you will all enjoy with your families and friends.
Our own celebration will start at 2pm (and not earlier as recently suggested).
Weather permitting, we will be outside on the playground. Celebrations will begin with a surprise royal visit, followed by KS1 doing Maypole dancing and Year 3 with Morris dancing. On behalf of Dormansland Parish Council, Councillor Maureen Young will be presenting the children with a special commemorative gift and then parents and visitors are invited to join the children for afternoon tea, before having a look around our Art Exhibition inside.
Children should remain in school uniform all day, but for the party they can choose to wear their own accessory in red, white and blue or a combination of all three. Please would you return your cake plates on Friday morning and if you are able to help us with some homemade scones, please leave a message with the office.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday afternoon!
