Welcome back to the new term!

Dear All,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are now ready to settle back into the new academic year. The children have come back to school today with a renewed energy and readiness for learning, and it has been so lovely to see them all again and to catch up with their summer news.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Reception children, who will begin school over the coming fortnight with us. I know that all the older children will remember how they felt when they were that tiny and do their utmost to make our newcomers feel welcome and safe.

We are anticipating another Ofsted inspection at some point during this term and I would ask that, if you have a moment, you might be able to complete the official online Ofsted questionnaire on their 'ParentView' website. You can find the link below. Alternatively, we would be more than happy to set you up on a computer in school if you would prefer to give your confidential views about our school that way instead.

You should be receiving two letters home in bookbags tonight. One is a calendar for your fridge, detailing all forthcoming school events and dates this term. The other outlines our new and improved behaviour management scheme at Dormansland, 'Staying on Green.' Year 6 will also be bringing home a letter about becoming one of our new Road Safety Champion team, now that they are the most senior children in our school. We hope you find all of these documents useful.

Most clubs should be back up and running in the next couple of weeks, once we have confirmed attendance numbers. Our 'Early Bird' morning club and 'Amigos' afterschool care are both starting today. Mr Cook will be sending home a letter about all other clubs tomorrow and we urge you to return your slips as soon as possible, to reserve a place for your child, especially in some of the more popular clubs.

As always, we are more than happy to help you, should you have any further queries at this stage in the term. Please do use the usual channels of communication to contact us, should you need to.

Best wishes for a happy, productive term,

Sarah Stokes smiley
