Science

At Dormansland School, we aim to provide a rich, stimulating and varied scientific curriculum through which they can acquire knowledge and skills whilst challenging their thinking. The school follows the National Curriculum for England. This aims to ensure that all children:

  • Develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
  • Develop understanding of the nature, process and methods of science through different types of science enquiries.
  • Understand the uses and implications of science over time.

Our science curriculum builds on our children’s natural curiosity and developing a scientific approach to problems. It encourages a growth mind set through open-mindedness, self-assessment, perseverance and responsibility. Our science curriculum provides our children with an enjoyable experience of science, so that they develop a deep and lasting interest and may be motivated to study science further. It includes the teaching of inspirational individuals.
